Fragments of Thoughts at the Station

A set of 5 haikus inspired by the Weekly Writing Challenge.

She runs through the years-
Left, right, footsteps echoing
in my memories.

I bought ten chopsticks
of stainless steel. But I can’t
eat with you tonight.

“You’re very pretty.”
Sharp intake of breath; my face
proceeds to redden–

Enter in again:
the land of modern heartbreak.
“No new messages.”

We get on these trains,
pretending they will take us
back to each other.
